Be A Santa To A Senior

I think I have seen it said that one way we can judge the is how we care for our children and our elderly, if no one else said well, then, I guess just did. At this time of year we often think of the children first, and we rightfully  reach out to provide the holiday experience to those children in need. But the elderly, those in care without family around, also like getting gifts. Luckily there is a great, easy program designed to bring out the twinkle in the eye of seniors that may not normally get a gift this time of year called Be A Santa To A Senior.

senior_santaThe program was started by Home Instead Senior Care who partners with local non-profit and community organizations to identify seniors who might not otherwise receive gifts this holiday season. The company then works with local businesses and retail stores to help facilitate the purchase and distribution of gifts by placing trees and ornaments within their various locations. Each senior's gift requests are written on a Be a Santa to a Senior tree ornament.

In Milwaukee, Walgreens pharmacies makes it very easy.

  1. Go to a Walgreens and find the ornament tree.
  2. Remove an ornament with a gift listed that will be from the Walgreens - no need to go anywhere else.
  3. Purchase the gift.
  4. Place the gift in the large bin a the Walgreens. No need to wrap, Santa's helpers will do it for you.

That's it. Walk into a store, find the item, buy it, and leave it there. You can't get much easier than that.

There is probably something you need at this time of year from a pharmacy so head on over to a Walgreens and pick out a gift for a senior and make a brighter day for them and yourself.
