Systematic. Militarization. Escalation. the state of Police in America: A Firsthand Experience

Last night I witnessed firsthand the inflammatory nature of law enforcement the way they operate in today's America. Taking the race thing out of the equation (which we can't), I saw their modus operandi. From the beginning to the at least reasonable and peaceful end. From my perspective, here's a pretty simple concept: the way to react to people protesting police violence is not with police violence.

West Side Pride - Wauwatosa & Nearby Restaurants

Bartolotta's - icon of Milwaukee food scene - started in the Village of Wauwatosa Cities and neighborhoods always like to brag about their amenities and put others down. But I like to bring people together and seeing as this is about 'Greater Milwaukee', not just the City of Milwaukee, I like to promote all that the area has to offer. The food scene, especially now - with foodies, food shows, food blogs, etc. - is especially competitive. Though I love what's happening in Milwaukee with food, I live in Wauwatosa - a city that often gets overlooked, or even worse demeaned - and feel it in some ways needs defending - or promoting - depending how you look at it. I recently noticed a new addition to the menu of the BelAir Cantina Wauwatosa location: a taco called the TSU360. Funny name for a taco, until I read the description. The TSU stands for Tosa Skateboarders United , a local organization raising funds for the new Hart Park skate park to whom BelAir is giving proceeds of orders of the taco.

Tosa Embracing, Placing Skaters In Safe Space

Hey look quick, its kids being active! It is all too common for us to bemoan the sedentary lifestyle of modern children and there are many efforts to increase their level of activity. At the same time, we condemn physical activities we once did as youths with no thought of safety. It is understandable that we want to protect our kids and promote safe practices like wearing of helmets. But how do we reconcile our concerns of safety while also promoting physical activity? One of the best ways is to create and maintain safe spaces for them to do the activities. In Wauwatosa they are doing just that with a new skate park being planned in Hart Park. With the assistance of Tosa Skateboarders United , TSU, and the  Jack Doyle Memorial Challenge Grant funds have been raised to build a new skate park that will provide a dedicated, safe place for skaters in the city to, well, skate.
